| Short Profile | BEng (Elect) Univ. of Pretoria ’81, MDP UNISA ’89, Pr. Eng. (ECSA). This senior professional engineer and business executive remained close to engineering. He remains enthused by the developments in the power utilities business and the potential of renewable energy and storage systems. He is a leading power entrepreneur, yet still an electrical design engineer and technical consultant on PV systems and energy storage. He laid his engineering foundations over a fifteen-year period with ESKOM, then a word class power utility giant. He also began his career as executive with Eskom and received a number of prestigious awards. He spent four years as senior executive with an electrical engineering consulting firm, but soon gravitated towards his calling as power entrepreneur. In the new millennium he became the MD of a new venture in ‘green power’ and dealt with all the details of establishing a new company. He succeeded in obtaining a license from NERSA that allowed the company to trade green power over the existing power grid – one of several ‘firsts’ in his career. Since then, he has alternated between being a business executive and an electrical engineer and project manager, but never straying far from renewables. He established his own consultancy in 2018. |
