This graduated, professionally registered, and certificated mechanical engineer also holds an MBA and is a registered PMP. As a young project engineer, he did performance testing, troubleshooting, design, estimating, commercial procurement, legal and claims management, and engineering project management. On joining Titaco, his roles expanded to include business value-add considerations, economic studies, and project NPV assessments. High value NPV projects were identified, marketed, sold, and delivered to clients on a sole-supplier, high-margin LSTK (lump sum turnkey) basis. With that background, this exceptional Resource evolved to become a high-powered project developer and manager with much experience and many accomplishments.
He takes particular pride in the development of the Mozambique Secunda Pipeline project and its management to completion, on schedule and under-budget. As part of the bigger Sasol Natural Gas Project, this was Winner of the SA PMI Project of the Year and a number of other local and international awards. An earlier treasured feather in his cap was the development and management of the Hernic Ferrochrome smelter project in Brits.
These are highlights in a stelar career of significant capital developments and delivery of large capital projects, mainly within the natural resources and energy industries. Projects include gas and oil cross-country pipelines, process plant, gas handling, gas-to-power, and minerals processing, either as new developments for independent developers or for large established corporates. Work encompassed project and business concept development through all stages of the business concept, engineering design, feasibility, approval, execution, warranty support, post-project reviews and plant support and optimization until late in the asset’s life. He has performed peer, gate and risk reviews on many projects and has been called in to assist others in project assessments and turnarounds. He takes pride in leading teams and portfolios to achieve their goals. He looks now forward to collaborating with his fellow EVR Resources to bring consequential mega-projects to fruition.
