GENERIC MANAGEMENT SERVICES AND SUPPORT FUNCTIONS SOLUTIONS

HND Elect Eng. Cape Town University of Technology ’86, MDP UNISA 2006, Pr. Tech Eng. ECSA. This senior engineering professional made the most of his qualifications. Through a rapidly moving career, he has become highly competent technically and a proven leader-manager of people.

He did his apprenticeship with Iscor, passing his trade test in ’79. He then changed employers a few times before being appointed Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer in ’87 by Nampac Paper for three years, which was followed by another three years with Sappi Kraft and two years with Usutu Pulp in similar roles. He then moved to Mhlume Sugar Company for four years where he was also responsible for substantial power generation and 11kV distribution and switchgear. In 2002 he was appointed Services Manager by Illovo Sugar with a broad scope of responsibilities, followed by a similar appointment with Tongaat Huletts until 2008.

His career trajectory then changed. He became an engineering project manager involved in a number of projects, most involving co-generation, when he worked for three years for Bosch Projects, an engineering consulting and EPCM company that was largely focused on the sugar industry. In 2011 he moved on to a subsidiary of Royal Haskoning DHV where he worked on the Medupi mega project. He was E & I Manager from 2012 to 2016 with Outotec, a leader in minerals and metals processing technology. Since then, he has worked on short-term contract assignments on a ferrochrome mine and sugar mills.
