Specialised courses attended include Earned Value Management, Integrated Project Controls and Forensic Schedule Analysis. His computer training and skills include Primavera, Primavera Risk Analysis, Microsoft Projects, PS Next and Sure Track software. He started as a trainee pipe fitter in 1978 on a Sasol new build site, employed by Fluor S.A. He qualified as a Pipe Fabricator and moved up the ranks through supervision to management, where he has proven to be a good leader. From ’86 to 2002 he supervised crews of boilermakers, pipe fitters and riggers, in the employ of Genrec and others, working on construction contracts on Engen and Sapref, as well as on Sappi and Mondi. In 2003 he was first appointed Project Manager on the upgrade of a stainless-steel plant and began to truly value planning and scheduling. From 2004 to 2008 he was Project Planner in the employ of Steinmuller assigned to all Eskom power stations to plan, schedule, monitor and control work during outages. From 2008 to 2019 he was employed by Eskom (Project Controls) as Senior Project Planner providing support to Project Managers, including on site on mega projects such as Kusile. |
