Short Profile

This highly talented man stood out since his school days, matriculating first in class with academic honours. He graduated B.Sc. Electro-mechanical Engineering (Honours) UCT ’97, having studied on a Sasol bursary. He worked for three years at Sasol as engineer-in-training, first gaining practical experience on the coal mines and then on project engineering and management with SASTECH. He spent a nine months sabbatical as Trading Assistant at Credit Suisse First Boston. He went back to Sasol nominally as an electro-mechanical engineer, but worked on the client side of a McKinsey-driven organisational renewal program in the mining division, gaining insights into management consulting. His next step was to actually become a management consultant at A.T. Kearney for three years, where he gained valuable experience and insights into many industries.
In 2003 he chose to gain direct management experience with a small group in the management of a remote tourist lodge, a saw mill, a joinery and construction company. He stayed with the group till 2010 and became a shareholder and Director. He acquired an MBL from UNISA in 2007. He then joined a junior gold mining group for two years, at first as independent consultant to manage the Project Management Office, but he was soon made Business Director of one of their mines and managed to turn around its performance.

Thereafter he became a New Business Project/Investment Co-ordinator for two years for a family-owned investment holding company with diversified mining and industrial operations in Southern Africa. He was tasked with landing new business and investment opportunities in the resource sector. Once secured, he was responsible for managing the project through the phases to production ramp-up and sustainable operations. He had found his niche – he went on to co-found a company that would follow a similar model for other equity funds. He now considers himself expert in corporate advisory work in the mining and minerals industry - advising on finance raising, transaction advisory work and due diligence work.

Specialized Service:1. Transaction advisory service: working to understand, scope and pitch a possible transaction. This could include due diligence work and advising on finance raising 2. Project over- management service: provide the lead/ oversight after the transaction is secured, through all the phases of the project to production ramp-up and sustainable operations 3. Executive advisory service (management consulting): working to understand, scope and establish a turnaround project and the associated PMO (Project Management Office)
